Joint Venture with Sunrice

Two Woodland, California based rice mills (Gold River Mills LLC and Pacific Basin Milling LLC) announced today that they will form a joint venture called SunFoods LLC with Ricegrowers Limited (trading as SunRice) of Sydney, Australia.

This transaction will maximize the milling, packaging and marketing assets of Gold River Mills and Pacific Basin Milling for sourcing and distribution of rice products in the US and international marketplace.

Current President of Gold River Mills, Tom Atkinson II, was appointed President of SunFoods based in their Woodland, CA headquarters. The formation of SunFoods will develop business opportunities at a time of increasing global demand for rice and rice based food products.

SunRice CEO, Gary Helou states,“this strategic investment by SunRice lays the foundation to build a branded rice program in the United States and grow international markets through sourcing premium US rice.”
